Never look back. That was what Donovan, the White Salamander, told himself. The past had too much weight to bear, would slow him down. From growing up as a refugee in Agurts, to running the streets with his childhood friend Spencer, to joining the army and then becoming a Captain of the 88th’s notorious Hellbenders squad, to losing it all and becoming a deserter. He had been tired of the life of constant killing, the burden of the relationships with the people around him. He had seen the darkness of humanity welling up in the Hellbenders, and he didn’t want it to consume him like he watched it consuming Spencer.  So despite it all, Donovan didn’t regret what had happened; even with sorrow, he had to make the same decision - ‘cause a man has to walk the path he knows is right. So that’s what he does: be true to himself, find redemption in the desert, and never look back.
