"Raptor" is a nickname given by the Marine Infantry to the Speeder MK1m. The Raptor was designed to complement the Stronghold. Whilst the Stronghold holds massive firepower, its slow mobility and sizable frame makes it an easy target target. A mobile and agile unit with decent firepower was needed to escort those mobile fortresses. Speeder MK1m is arguably the most important asset in the 303rd Marine Team during reconnaissance missions. Given its superior mobility, friendly controls and low production cost, the Raptors are still often seen on the battlefield even after the development of the Speeder Mk2.
